The Armor of God, Part 4: The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
Oct 28, 2025
Ephesians 6:15 - "and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace."
This week, as we continue our Armor of God series, we’re lacing up one of the most vital pieces of spiritual armor — the shoes of the gospel of peace.
Firm Footing in the Battle
The shoes of the Roman soldier were not just ordinary shoes. They were studded with nails or spikes to allow for better gripping—much like baseball or softball cleats today. These shoes prepared soldiers to fight on a firm foundation regardless of the type of terrain they faced.
In the same way, the gospel is our cleat. It holds us firmly to our faith and brings us peace, being confident that Christ's victory on the cross has given us a firm foundation.
No matter what kind of ground we’re fighting on — whether smooth, rocky, or uncertain — we can stand strong because of the peace and hope we have in Jesus.
Ready to Share the Good News
Paul reminds us to be ready to share the gospel of peace at all times. When our hearts are anchored in the truth of the gospel, we not only stand firm but also become messengers of peace to others who are still searching for solid ground.
Here are a few verses that stand out to me as I think about the shoes of the gospel of peace:
- Romans 5:1 - “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
- 1 Peter 3:15 - “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”
- Matthew 28:19 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"
- Revelations 12:11 - "And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death."
Next week, we move on to one of my favories — the shield of faith!
Personal Update
For those who have followed the blog for a while, you may remember that I began a personal journey of exercise and giving blood on a regular basis. I have had to pause both due some unexpected health issues. Thankfully, it’s nothing catastrophic, but it has required me to make some lifestyle adjustments. I truly believe that God used these activities to reveal underlying issues that might have gone unnoticed otherwise, since all the “regular indicators” looked perfectly normal.
I fully intend to get back to the gym and, hopefully, back to donating blood soon. But I wanted to share this with you because this blog has always been about real women trying to walk out our faith in the real world!
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and for walking this faith journey alongside me. 💛
