Savoring the Journey

When You Realize How Much You Don’t Know

Jun 10, 2026

Have you ever been really proud of yourself for learning something new, only to discover you had barely scratched the surface of all there is to know?

That was me this month.

We had an SEO audit of the Savor website, and suddenly I realized there was an ocean of information I didn't know that I didn't know.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and I knew very little about it beyond that—probably enough to be dangerous.

At first, all I could see was the mountain of work I had already poured into the website that was obviously not sufficient. Honestly, I was a bit overwhelmed.

The enemy quickly brought several thoughts to mind:

“You are wasting your time.”
“Who are you kidding? You don’t have a clue what you’re doing.”
“You should just give it up and let them find someone else who can do this so much better.”

Almost as soon as those thoughts came across my mind, I knew they were lies from Satan. Instead, I replaced those lies with the Truth.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

I also reminded myself of a few things:

  • I knew nothing about websites, Kajabi, or even what SEO was when I began working with Savor.
  • The Lord has allowed me to learn at amazing speeds as I have moved from one project to another.
  • There are plenty of people who can do what I do much better; but I believe God has called me to do this at this time. He has and will continue to allow me to learn what I need as I need it to do the work He has called me to do.
  • I LOVE learning new things, and I will tackle this new challenge one step at a time as He leads.

The May 12th Savor Podcast asks this question:

"Are you serving the god of perfectionism or the God of grace?"

The Lord does not expect perfection from me—or from you. He already knows everything we don't know when He calls us to do something. He doesn't want us to know it all; He wants us to rely on Him!

So, I am now reveling in the fact that there is so much I need to learn! I am excited to dive into that ocean of information and take it on little by little. So much so that I now have to make myself stop and do the laundry and cook dinner, and maybe give my computer a break.

Father, thank You that You do not require perfection, nor do You expect me to know everything at once. In Your kindness, you feed me what I need when I need it. You open my eyes and my mind to new things when I am ready to take them on instead of overwhelming me with it all at once. I am grateful for the excitement that learning something new brings, and the joy of using that new found knowledge to honor You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Until next month,
