When God Calls, Perfection Isn't Required
Jul 09, 2026
Last month I shared that instead of being discouraged, I was now reveling in the fact that there is so much I need to learn in the work I do for Savor Ministries. Well, the Lord has certainly allowed me plenty of opportunities this month!
I have been working on a project I hope to release next month. It is something I have never done before and, needless to say, there has been a huge learning curve!
Late last year I had the opportunity to speak at my sister-in-law's church for their women's retreat— another first for me! The theme was the Armor of God, and I really enjoyed researching and preparing for it as well as sharing it with these kind and gracious ladies. Afterward, I used it to create a blog series, which I hope many of you had the chance to read.
Based on feedback we received for Savor, I was inspired to dig a little deeper, and I am excited to share that I am currently developing a free seven-part video Bible study on the Armor of God! Each video will be approximately 10-12 minutes long, and the series will include a downloadable workbook filled with fill-in-the-blanks, reflection questions, and practical application exercises. It can be used as a personal study or as a small group study.
Here is a sneak peak from Session 1 of the study! I hope you'll join me!
I had no idea what the Lord had in store for me when I wrote that blog last month. Not only am I reveling in how much I am still learning, I am also constantly reminded that perfection is not required. Even now as I work on the final pieces, I am tempted to go back and re-record or reword, but there is a point when I have to stop and remember it is not about me.
Paul reminds us in Colossians 3:17:
"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Instead of asking whether every transition is flawless or every word is perfectly delivered, my questions turned to focus on Him.
- Is the teaching biblically accurate?
- Does it point women to Christ rather than to me?
- Is it engaging enough to inspire women to desire to know Him more deeply?
- Will they walk away with a greater understanding of God's Word and practical ways to apply it in everyday life?
Those are the questions that matter much more than my shifting eyes, an abrupt slide change, or a hair out of place.
So I can promise you two things about this upcoming study:
First, it won't be perfect.
Second, it will be offered from the heart, with a sincere desire to honor the Lord Jesus and help women taste and see that the Lord is good.
Father, I am overwhelmed at the grace and mercy you show me every day. I am constantly amazed that you continue to choose to work through me in spite of my imperfections, impatience, and inadequacy. May Your power be made perfect in my weakness.
Until next month,
